Cancer of the Penis

Cancer of the penis often presents as an ulcer , induration or sometimes by a persistent discoloration of the glans of the penis. This tends to spread early into the glands in the groin area. It is therefore important to consult the doctor early and treatment initiated immediately.

Treatment

If detected early partial removal of the penis may be curative. Radiotherapy with preservation of the penis is also often an alternative.

However, late diagnosis will involve often complete removal of the penis with removal of the groin lymphnodes. This may have to be followed by radiotherapy / chemotherapy depending on the pathology report and stage of the disease.
