Free tissue transfer and replantation have become a routine in the department. Free flap transfers are used for reconstruction of the upper extremity, lower extremity, the head and neck, and breast.
The Center for tissue transfer and replantation established in the year 1989 was the first department of its kind in the state of Kerala and one of the few microvascular centers in the country. The center provides training program in plastic and microvascular surgery. Every year the department organizes international workshops.
