Arthroscopy is keyhole surgery of the joints. It allows the orthopaedic surgeon to see inside the joints through tiny holes and conduct high-precision surgical procedures like ligament reconstruction. As the incision is small and tissue damage is minimal in arthroscopy, the post-surgical pain is less, recovery is faster and the patient is able to rehabilitate better. Most arthroscopic procedures are day care surgeries and the patient can go home the same day. But certain major ligament reconstruction procedures may require admission for a few days.
We have been doing for the past one decade keyhole surgery for shoulder dislocation, rotator cuff repair for the shoulder, ligament reconstruction of knee joint (anterior cruciate, posterior cruciate, medial collateral, posterolateral corner reconstruction for the knee). Even ligament reconstruction for recurrent patella dislocations are done in a minimal access technique in our centre. We also deal with all sports injuries and our centre has well equipped dedicated and well trained physiotherapy and rehabilitation team.
